Meeting The Needs of Many
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
We serve because Christ calls us to serve—and the needs in Nassau County and Northeast Florida are real, urgent, and growing. Behind the beauty of our community are thousands of neighbors facing hardship, uncertainty, and daily challenges that threaten their health, stability, and future.
In our county, more than 11.7% of the population lives in poverty, with that number rising to 17.5% among families with children. Many of those struggling are working families—especially women ages 35–44—doing their best to provide, yet still living at or below the poverty line. Nearly 14.7% of our neighbors lack health insurance, and 10.6% of those under age 65 live with a disability, creating additional barriers to stability and care. Even among those who have served our nation, 8,965 veterans—over 15% of our population—face challenges that require community support and compassion.
The need is especially urgent for our children. In Nassau County Schools, more than 5,800 students—over half—qualify for free or reduced-price meals, revealing the widespread reality of food insecurity. Nearly 600 students are experiencing homelessness, without a stable place to call home, and more than 1,500 children have been removed from unsafe environments and are now living in or awaiting foster care. These are not distant statistics—they are our neighbors, our classrooms, and our community.
This is why we do what we do.
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” — Psalm 82:3
